Amita Chatterjee et le débat rationel en Inde

Une belle nouvelle en ce début d'année : nous avons eu l'honneur d'accueillir le professeur Amita Chatterjee (université de Jadavpur).
Amita Chatterjee est un membre réputé de cette communauté qui travaille à la jonction entre philosophie et sciences cognitives, elle est également l'un des membres fondateurs du Calcutta Logic Circle.

The Rationality Debate:

a Review from the Nyaya and the Bauddha Perspectives

Abstract: The ancient Indian Pramāṇa-śāstra-s are compendia of Indian epistemology, psychology and logic. All classical systems of Indian philosophy contain threadbare discussions on theories of reasoning, but we shall confine ourselves to two systems - the Nyāya and the Buddhist systems, keeping in focus how these relate to the rationality debate.

Following Nyayasutrabhasya (commentaire aux sûtras de logique) and Dignaga’s Hetucalkradamaru (la roue des raisons logiques), I shall try to show that the analogy-based reasoning schema of these systems lends support to Mental Model Theory propounded by Johnson-Laird over the rule-based solutions of the Rationality Debate.
